1. What this policy covers
Scribed Works, Inc. uses cookies, local storage, session storage, and similar browser technologies to operate Scribed. A cookie is a small value your browser sends with requests to its permitted domain; local and session storage stay in the browser until code reads them. This policy supplements the Privacy Policy.
The marketing website currently does not initialize the optional analytics or advertising tags described below. These choices primarily control the Scribed web app. Sign-in, payment, embedded third-party content, and other products may involve their own necessary storage or separately described controls. Visiting a policy page is not consent to tracking.
2. Essential storage and requested preferences
Authentication and security storage supports your session, account protection, verification, and the features you ask to use. Interface storage remembers requested preferences such as theme, sidebar state, or the active workspace. The optional-cookie controls do not disable these functions. You can remove them in your browser, but doing so may sign you out or reset settings.
scribed_consent_v1 stores your category choices, policy version, and expiry in a first-party cookie and local storage. We recognize a choice for up to 180 days; local storage may remain until replaced or cleared. An older policy version or expired choice requires a new choice before optional categories can run. A random browser identifier, scribed_aid, supports consent audit records and remains in local storage until cleared. On supported Scribed subdomains the consent cookie can share a choice; local storage is specific to its origin. Other browsers, devices, or separate product domains may require a separate choice.
Sign-in cookie names and duration depend on the authentication feature and session settings. Some local preferences remain until you change them or clear storage. We do not describe every technical cookie as optional merely because it is stored in your browser.
3. Optional analytics
When you choose analytics, the web app may load configured Google Analytics, PostHog, and Vercel Analytics or Speed Insights to measure usage and performance. Events may include page paths, feature interactions, device and browser information, and a signed-in account identifier. Our browser configuration limits URL information and avoids identified sensitive pages. It does not enable PostHog session replay or automatic collection of page clicks and form contents.
Google Analytics may use cookies beginning with _ga, _gid, or _gat; PostHog may use cookies or local storage with names beginning with ph_ and ending in _posthog. Names, identifiers, and expiry vary by provider configuration. Vercel’s analytics and performance tools are designed to work without analytics cookies, but we still gate their web-app loading behind your analytics choice.
Operational server logs and records needed for security, billing, service delivery, and error diagnosis are distinct from optional browser analytics. They are explained in the Privacy Policy and are not disabled by this browser control.
4. Optional advertising and attribution
When you choose marketing cookies, configured Google advertising tags can measure conversions and support advertising, including remarketing. They may use click identifiers, campaign information, device information, and cookies beginning with _gcl_ or _gac_. Google Consent Mode categories remain denied until the corresponding choice permits them. Rejecting marketing prevents our app from intentionally enabling these advertising features.
We also use first-party campaign attribution, including the md_attribution cookie and scribed_attribution local storage, recognized for up to 90 days when marketing is permitted; local storage may remain until replaced or cleared. This includes advertising click identifiers and campaign parameters present in the page URL. Advertising disclosures and opt-outs are explained in the Privacy Policy. A cookie being first-party does not by itself mean the data is never disclosed to a provider or cannot be considered “sharing” under privacy law.
An advertising-cookie choice is separate from signing up for promotional email or text messages. Accepting one does not subscribe you to the others.
5. Make or change your choices
On the web app, use Privacy choices on the Cookies Policy page to accept all optional categories, reject them, or choose analytics and marketing separately. Both categories start off. You can reopen the controls after accepting or rejecting, without creating an account. Withdrawal stops future optional collection by our integrations and clears the known optional storage we can access; it does not retroactively erase data already sent to providers.
You may also delete or block storage using your browser’s settings. We cannot remove every cookie set on a provider’s own domain or in another browser. Clearing all storage may erase your saved rejection as well, in which case optional categories remain off until a new choice. A reload may be used to unload previously started tracking code after withdrawal.
If your browser sends Global Privacy Control (GPC) or Do Not Track (DNT), our web-app controls treat that as a request to turn off optional analytics and marketing even if an earlier stored choice allowed them. A browser-level signal applies to that browser; contact us for a broader personal-information request. Technical service and security records remain necessary.
6. Choice records and updates
We save your selection in your browser and attempt to record a consent event on our server with the category choices, policy version, timestamp, random browser identifier, IP address, user agent, and account identifier if signed in. Choices take effect locally even if the server record cannot be delivered. These records support privacy administration and accountability; they are not an advertising opt-in for another purpose.
When this policy materially changes, we update its version and request a new choice where appropriate. Continuing to browse is not a substitute for optional-cookie consent. Provider technologies may change, so we review the descriptions and controls together.
